Data Privacy Notice
Philippine Electronics and Communication Institute of Technology (PECIT) upholds, respects, and values your right to privacy. We are duly obligated to protect your personal data in accordance with Data Privacy Act of 2012 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.
1. Collection
We collect, acquire, or generate your personal data in many forms upon enrollment. They may consist of written records, photographic and video images, digital material, and even biometric records. Personal data which includes name, contact information (e.g. telephone number, mobile number and email address), gender, address, place of birth, nationality, civil status, etc. We also collect data about your personal circumstances, such as your family background, previous schools attended, academic record, disciplinary record, employment record, medical record, etc.
2. Use
To the extent permitted or required by law, we use your personal data to pursue our legitimate interests as an educational institution, including a variety of academic, administrative, research, historical, and statistical purposes. The information that you provide to us may be used for:
- a. verification for processing of enrollment and registration;
- b. establishing and maintaining student information systems whether manually or electronically;
- c. recording, generating, and maintaining student academic records;
- d. communicating official school announcements;
- e. posting of information in the official social media platforms;
- f. sharing marketing and promotional materials regarding school-related functions, events, projects, and activities.
3. Storage
The personal data provided to us are stored in the following manner:
- a. physical document collected are stored under lock and key in secure storage;
- b. storage locations which can only be opened by authorized personnel;
- c. electronic version are stored in the database information systems of the institution.
Only authorized personnel are given the rights to access the data through various access control system.
4. Disclosure
The personal data collected are shared with the following units within the institution for the previously stated purposes (a) colleges and departments relevant to the degree program of the student (b) shall be disclosed only to authorized regulatory authorities such as government agencies, Department of Education( DepEd) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) (c) submission of information to Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) (d) academic linkages such as review centers and business partners who help students seek job opportunities after graduation.
5. Disposal
All student data are transferred to the Office of the Registrar and Data Management Office (DMO) upon acceptance and enrollment. Such data is stored by the institution indefinitely as needed by general practices of the school. All personal data collected shall be retained for course of the duration of the student in the institution. Once the student graduates, such personal data shall be disposed of in a secure manner.
