About PECIT

History of PECIT

In 1981, Engr. Romeo L. Zerrudo founded the first electronics and communication school in the municipality of Bayugan. It was known as Bayugan Institute of Technology (BIT) offering vocational-technical courses like Typing, Practical Electricity, and Electronics Technician for Radio Receiver.

After a year of operation, the school received a letter from the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) which is now the Department of Education (DepEd); prohibited BIT to use the term "Technology" in its name since it didn't offer bachelor's degree courses. For this reason, the school name was changed to Philippine Electronics and Communication Institute (PECI). Moreover, the new name brought great impact to the school where its courses focused mainly in electronics and communication.

On March 18, 1983, the founder decided to transfer the school to an urban place where more students can enroll and avail its offered courses. PECI was then establised in Butuan City, in the second floor of Sintos Bldg. located at corner Z. Pizarro Street and Montilla Boulevard, Butuan City.
